The Guidance and Counseling Program in CISD (K-4) is focused on helping our students be successful learners, taking ownership of their futures, identifying the pathways to those futures, and taking the steps necessary along the way to reach their goals. The program is also designed to assist those students who may experience roadblocks — academically, socially or emotionally. In elementary, the focus is on building good citizens, developing resilience, as well as developing those skills necessary to be successful academically. Students take their first look at future careers and begin to hear about post-secondary opportunities. Social, emotional priorities and brain health are also addressed. Resilience and mental health are emphasized throughout their educational years.
