Attendance

State law requires school-age children to attend school each day instruction is provided. The law applies to children between the ages of 6 and 18. If you voluntarily enroll your child in prekindergarten or kindergarten before age 6, school attendance laws apply to your child as well.
When your child is not present at school, the absence must be coded unexcused if you call or email it will be coded as UPC – unexcused with parent contact.
 Schools are required to excuse an absence for the following reasons:
  • Religious Holiday
  • Appear at governmental office to complete paperwork required in connection with the student’s application for US Citizenship.
  • Student U.S. Naturalization Ceremony
  • Funeral
  • Doctor
  • Dentist

** Must include student Full name or ID when emailing or writing a note. Doctor note please put student ID on it when turning it in. ***

Tardies
School begins at 7:55 AM each day. If a student is not in the building when the 7:55 AM tardy bell rings, they will be marked tardy for the day.

Absences
State attendance is taken each day at 9:00 AM. Students arriving after that time will be marked absent for the day. If your child is going to be absent, please contact the front office at 832-592-5800 and let them know the reason for the absence. Following an absence, please send a note in with your student explaining the absence.

Medical Appointments
Students arriving after the attendance time will not be marked tardy or absent if they have been at a medical appointment. Upon arrival, parents will need to sign their student in at the front office and provide a note from their medical provider.
